How to chase bigger vape clouds
Some vapers chase intense flavours, some want a strong throat hit and nicotine uptake, and others want CLOUDS!
We usually find that after you’ve been vaping for a while, you begin to crave larger, thicker vape clouds rather than the throat hit that new vapers / ex-smokers often desire.
But how can cloud chasers reach this goal? There are a few different points to consider if you want to maximise your vape cloud production. Let’s cover these below…
What vapes give the best clouds?
Vape Tank
When choosing a vape tank that will maximise cloud production, you want to pick something that uses mesh coils.
Mesh coils are essentially thin, flat strips of metal with lots of holes punched in. This means the surface area of the coil is maximised which means more e-liquid comes into contact with the coil’s surface. In turn, this leads to more e-liquid being heated up at once and, therefore, more vapour production.
Check out our full article on mesh coils here.
Secondly, sub-ohm coils are excellent for cloud chasers. Sub-ohm coils are simply coils that have a resistance of below 1 ohm - hence the name! When a coil has lower resistance, it heats up faster leading to an increase in vapour production.
The Horizontech Falcon 2 tank is a great choice for creating bigger vape clouds. It’s a sub-ohm tank that has been specifically designed to increase cloud production. Plus, it uses specially designed mesh coils and is compatible with a wide range of vape devices.
Vape Mod / Battery
If you’re chasing bigger vape clouds, you’ll want to choose a mod that features variable wattage and airflow. This means you can adjust these settings to maximise cloud production - we will cover this in more detail in the next section.
Sub-ohm mods are great for cloud chasers because they tend to be more powerful. The Freemax Maxus 200W Kit is great - it’s a sleek and ergonomic kit that is capable of firing up to a massive 200W. This kit comes with its own tank, but for extra cloud production, you may choose to pair it with the Horizontech Falcon 2 Tank which we mentioned previously.
Choosing the right vape settings
Airflow
When chasing larger vape clouds, you want to maximise the airflow to your device. This increases the amount of air that gets to the coil - a fresh flow of air will encourage the vapour to condense into thicker clouds.
When you vape, you are actually inhaling tiny liquid droplets - called an ‘aerosol’ - rather than actual vapour. So we need condensation for the vapour to turn into clouds. When the vapour is cooled down, it causes this condensation. So, increased air = thicker clouds!
It’s important to note here that the airflow does affect the way that the draw feels. More airflow will make the draw feel airier (funnily enough), whereas less airflow will make the draw tighter - more like a real cigarette. People have their own preferences when it comes to the feel of the draw, so just have a play around and see what works best for you.
Many tanks will include an adjustable airflow feature, including the Horizontech Falcon 2 Tank that we mentioned earlier.
Power settings
The fundamental thing here is that more power will lead to more vape clouds. However, more power also leads to an increase in heat. This means it’s super important to keep the airflow high to ensure the coil stays cool enough.
Sub-ohm tanks are best for high power - again, the Horizontech Falcon 2 Tank is an excellent choice here.
You should also check the maximum power recommendations for the specific coil you are using to avoid burning it out. This will usually be written on the coil.
Choosing the right e-liquids
This is a pretty simple one too - a higher VG e-liquid will create more vapour. Alternatively, a higher PG e-liquid will create a stronger throat hit.
High VG e-liquids don’t work well in all tanks as the e-liquid is thicker. You will be best using a more powerful tank - sub-ohm tanks will work perfectly.
Another thing to consider is that when you intake more vapour through larger clouds, you will also be intaking more nicotine. Therefore, you may want to opt for a lower nicotine strength in your e-liquid.
