A beginner's guide to vaping

We know that the world of vaping can seem intimidating at first - there are so many different disposable vapes and e-liquids on the market, it’s hard to know where to start!

At Vape Simple, we want to make it easy to make the switch from smoking to a healthier lifestyle by providing straightforward vape information for beginners.

In this article, we will provide you with a simple, straightforward beginner’s guide to vaping. We will cover how to start vaping, the best vape for a beginner, and vape juice for beginners.

How to get started vaping

Making the switch from smoking to vaping is an incredible step and something you should be proud of. But, it’s important to do it properly if you want to avoid returning to cigarettes.

When starting to vape, you should be committed to the idea that you are going to stop smoking cigarettes altogether, immediately. Enter this journey with a positive mindset - set yourself up for success!

You should ensure you are vaping an e-liquid that contains enough nicotine to satisfy your cravings - we will cover this in more detail below.

The best vape kit for beginners

As a beginner, you want an e-cigarette that is easy to use and maintain but is high-quality and effective.

For this, we would recommend the Aspire Pockex Starter Kit

The Aspire Pockex is the best vape for beginners in the UK - it is compact, leak-resistant, has a long battery life, and is super easy to use. Plus, you can pair it with pretty much any e-liquid you like!

The best e-liquid for beginners

We would recommend that you choose a 10ml e-liquid that already contains nicotine. The best brands for this are SOLT and Simple Essentials

The Simple Essentials range contains a wide selection of incredible flavours. It does exactly what it says on the tin - simple, no-fuss, high-quality flavours catering to all tastes!

If you’re looking for a high nicotine dose but a super-smooth throat hit, then SOLT is for you. These e-liquids use nicotine salts rather than traditional freebase nicotine - this allows you to enjoy enhanced flavours, powerful delivery, and a soft throat hit that replicates the feeling of a traditional cigarette.

Nicotine Strength

Follow the guide below to determine, roughly, what nicotine strength you need in your e-liquid:

Less than 5 cigarettes per day - 3mg

5-10 cigarettes per day - 6mg

10-15 cigarettes per day - 9mg

15-20 cigarettes per day - 12mg

20-25 cigarettes per day - 18mg

25+ cigarettes per day - 24mg

How to open vape juice bottles

Opening e-liquid bottles can often be challenging. E-liquid bottles typically come with childproof caps to prevent accidental opening by unscrewing the cap. The outer and inner caps of these bottles are connected; the outer cap must be pushed down to securely close with the inner cap, enabling both to be removed.

To access the contents of a childproof e-liquid bottle, firmly hold the bottle with one hand, and then apply downward pressure to the cap while simultaneously turning it counterclockwise. Applying extra force may be necessary. To remove the cap, it may be necessary to perform the downward push and twist motion multiple times.

Vape tricks for beginners

Not all vapers are interested in tricks, but as a beginner, you may be looking to spice things up and have some fun! Here are 3 super easy vape tricks to get you started:

  • Waterfall

This is a super easy vape trick for beginners! Simply exhale your vapour into a bottle and then pour it out onto a surface to create a magical, mystical scene!

  • Bubbles

Another easy beginner vape trick - get some bubble solution and some kind of tube (e.g. an old kitchen/toilet roll cardboard tube. Dip the end of the tube in the bubble solution and then exhale your vapour through the tube to create a giant vape bubble!

  • French inhale

This one is slightly harder but can look really cool. Draw the vapour into your mouth, but don’t inhale into your lungs. Open your mouth to allow the vapour to slowly come out, and simultaneously inhale through your nostrils. The vapour will travel from your mouth up to your nose to create a waterfall effect!
